Liverpool beat Cardiff to regain top spot

Liverpool returned to the top of the Premier League by battling to a 2-0 win at relegation-threatened Cardiff City.

Jurgen Klopp’s side broke through as Georginio Wijnaldum met Trent Alexander-Arnold’s low corner with a thunderous first-time effort.

Cardiff captain Sean Morrison miscued a header with the goal at his mercy as Liverpool survived some nervy moments.

Morrison, who conceded a penalty after grappling with Mohamed Salah, and substitute James Milner scored.
