Lockdown: Banks closed in Osun


Some commercial banks in Osun state, Tuesday, shut down operation apparently in compliance with the lockdown directives of the state government. 


Governor Gboyega Oyetola has announced total lock down of the state effective from midnight of Tuesday March 31, 2020, as parts of measure to prevent further spread of corona virus. 


While some banks believed that midnight of Tuesday means that there should not be work on Tuesday, others believed that the order takes effect on Wednesday. 


It was pasted in one of the banks visited in Osogbo by our Correspondent that “in compliance with Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, directives, Zenith bank remains closed effective March 31, 2020 nationwide for a period of two weeks in the first instance. 


But, at the entrance of another bank pasted “we write to inform you that our branch will be closing early effective Wednesday 25 March, 2020 by 3pm daily till further notice. 


A security in one of the banks said “we learnt that the man in charge of ATM will be coming to load money and return home, I can not say when transaction in the bank will begin. 


Meanwhile, some traders and commercial drivers did not go out early as they contemplated on the exact day for the beginning of lock down announced by the government. 


The popular eatery at the old Fakunle School, “Justrite” was also shut. Security attached to the eatery refused to speak with the press.
