Lokoja court warns Elukpo to abide by bail conditions

A Lokoja Chief Magistrate Court yesterday warned a lawyer, Mr Julius Elukpo, to abide by his bail conditions or face the full wrath of the law.
The Chief Magistrate, Seidu Hussein, who presided over the case gave the warning in Lokoja while reacting to a submission made by the counsel to the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Theophilus Oteme, against Elukpo who is facing a one count charge of forgery before the court.
When the case came up for mention yesterday, Oteme called the attention of the court to a publication made by the accused on the social media in which he allegedly cast aspersions on the integrity of the police and some individuals in connection with the case.
The counsel to the commissioner of police told the court that Elukpo’s action was a clear breach of his bail conditions, asking the court to call him to order.
Oteme also implored the court to prevail on the accused to honour police invitation anytime he is called upon to come and shed light on the allegation of bribery he leveled against police and other issues he raised in the online publication.
The counsel later told the court that he would be seeking for an amendment to an earlier application already submitted before the court.
Lawyer to the accused, Mr Muizdeen Abdulahi, did not object to the move but insisted that the amendment be made formally.
Elukpo who is the Chairman of Kogi state Elders Forum is being charged with forgery before the court by the state Commissioner of Police.
He was alleged to have forged signatures of three persons to write a petition to the Minister of Health on March 22, 2017.
While adjourning the matter for hearing till April 4, Chief Magistrate
Hussein warned Elukpo against infringing on his bail conditions or he would be forced to revoke the bail.
