Lokoja varsity to begin post-graduate studies

Vice Chancellor, Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Prof. Angela Freeman Miri, yesterday disclosed that the university had concluded plans for the commencement of School of Post-Graduate Studies in the institution.
Miri, who disclosed this at a press conference in Lokoja as part of activities to mark the 2nd Convocation Ceremony of the institution scheduled to hold on November 4, 2017, said the post-graduate programmes “will kick-start in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences as well as the Faculty of Science, beginning from 2018/2019 Academic session.”
“I am glad to inform you that upon graduation of the second set of graduands, and sequel to the approval given by the Senate and subsequent appointment of Dean of the School of PGS to effect its smooth take-off.
“We are building a university for the future and as such, the school of PGS would take off in earnest as soon as the National University Commission (NUC) grants the approval.
“We are making the institution and its environs a community of scholars who would help prospective candidates obtain Higher Degrees,” she said.
The VC also said the NUC has accredited all the established programmes in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, adding that “the Faculty of Science is awaiting full accreditation in the second quarter of 2018.”
Miri also stressed the desire of the university management to move to the school permanent site to commence operations as soon as possible in order make a meaningful impact and advancement.
A total of 288 graduates are expected to be conferred with First Degree award.
