Look beyond politics to tackle growing insecurity, Ortom tells Nigerians

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state Wednesday appealed to Nigerians and people of his state to look beyond partisan politics in order to appreciate the real threat and danger of growing insecurity in the country.

Ortom said the heightening insecurity is constantly threatening the very existence of the country and called for unity and cooperation in self-preservation and in building a better future for the children.

Speaking at the swearing in ceremony of two advisers at the Government House, Makurdi, Ortom who was represented by his deputy, Engr. Benson Abounu, called on all Nigerians to note that they are stakeholders, and must work together in making the country better.

He said his administration was committed to living out its core obligation, which is the security of lives and property, as well as working for and sustaining welfare and wellbeing of the people.

According to him, it was not easy to tackle some of the core obligations due to shortage of funds, national as well as global economic and social problems which are confronting states, including Benue.

“When we came in and even as we steer the affairs of State towards the end of our second mandate, we have remained determined and focused in our key responsibilities as Government. We will never deviate from this responsibility,” he said.

He urged the new advisers to abide by the core values for his administration and warned against involving in issues that will land them into the hands of anti graft agencies.
