Looting: Plateau speaker worried about youth involvement

The speaker, Plateau state House of Assembly, Hon. Abok Ayuba, has expressed concern over the high level of involvement of youth in the looting of public and private warehouses in search of palliatives.

He said the act was uncivilised, describing it as hooliganism, perpetrated in the guise of EndSARS protest.

This was contained in a statement issued by his chief press secretary, Mr. Bulus Atang, Monday in Jos. He expressed concern over the level of youth involvement in the act of illegality and criminality.

“Abok expressed worry over the sad incidents of uncivilised conduct, act of hooliganism and of looting of private and public properties by miscreants and hoodlums under the cover of the EndSARS protest,” the statement said.

Ayuba said while the state and federal governments have demonstrated commitment for the youth through various empowerment programmes aimed at uplifting their living standards, they should embrace the path of civility in expressing their grievances.

He appealed to residents of the state, particularly the youths to be law abiding and obey the curfew imposed on Jos North and Jos South local government areas by the state government.
