LP embarks on harmonisation of pro- Obi, Otti groups

In order to build a formidable political bloc ahead of 2023 general election, the supporters of Mr Peter Obi for President and Dr Alex Otti for Governor of Abia state, the  Labour party has embarked on harmonisation exercise of all pro groups sympathetic to two candidates.

Speaking during a Town Hall meeting, Saturday, held at Dr Alex Otti Campaign Office in Umuahia, Abia state, the National Vice Chairman of Labour party, South East, Comrade Innocent Sunday Okeke said the meeting became necessary in order to fuse all these support groups loyal to Mr Peter Obi and Dr Alex Otti into the Labour Party (LP).

He said this was in order to solidify the chances of the two frontline candidates and others emerge victorious at the end of the election in 2023.

He added that the meeting was simultaneously being held across the six geo-political zones in the Country, adding that  the essence  of harmonizing the different interest groups is to work uniformly in achieving the common goal in LP.

“Many of the support groups as I meant to understand are only supporting the Peter Obi project while working for other political Parties. You don’t seems to love and dislike the instrument that will protect and stabilize him to work.

“When you are supporting Peter Obi, you are also expected to equally support those running with him in different positions so that he will achieve much in governance with less distractions.

He reminded members of the groups that it would be dangerous and disastrous “to work with people having divided loyalty as supporter.”

Okeke, therefore, charged every committed Peter Obi supporter to immediately proceed to register with LP at their nearest wards and obtain their membership cards.

He disclosed that responsibility would only be assigned for the Presidential Project to only those  who registered in “LP can only be greater and achieve reach and success with only you.”

Earlier in his brief remarks, the State Chairman of LP, Pastor Ceekay Igara, said the essence of the harmonisation was for a better Nigeria.

“That is what we represent, God has made us as vehicles to achieve this aspiration.

“We have a coalition of pro groups here in the state chapter of the party.

“We will be visiting all the Local Government Areas for sensitization and mobilization for membership, if we must have to win, we must do things differently this time around”.

In their separate contributions, the National Coordinator Coalition for Peter Obi, Father Obinna Nchekwube Maduabuchi and the State Coalition Coordinator, Mrs. Matilda Anyamele, said all the pro groups within the party in the state would be harmonised with the mainstream of the coalition.
