LP lauds media coverage of activities in Edo

The leadership of Labour Party (LP) in Edo state has lauded journalists for displaying utmost professionalism in the reportage of the party’s activities during the electioneering campaigns.

The party also described the press reportage as accurate, adding that “it’s expected to be appreciated.”

Chairman of LP in the state, Comrade Lucky Ogbaloi, who disclosed this after a meeting of its State Working Committee (SWC) in Benin City said: “If the press had done otherwise, it would have been a challenge.”

While expressing optimism that the LP would win the forthcoming polls, Ogbaloi said the SWC expressed concern over matters of opposition parties whom he alleged have perfected plans to disrupt voting where there are indications that LP would win.

According to him, “we are specifically calling our people and supporters to be level headed as we go into the poll on Saturday. You make be provoked; but be slow to anger.

“We are also using this medium to inform the law enforcement agents that this information is very rife.

“They (security) should take firm notice of this and ensure that we are protected as a party.

“The operatives should also ensure that miscreants are kept away from voting arena and those who are planning it are even now arrested and kept behind bars now, during and after the election,” Ogbaloi added.
