Madumere’s impeachment, a done-deal – Speaker

Speaker of Imo state House of Assembly, Hon.
Acho Ihim, has said the lawmakers will go ahead to conclude the impeachment process on the state Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere.
Ihim, who spoke to our correspondent on phone, confirmed that notices to that effect had been signed by members and served the deputy governor, explaining that the Clerk of the House had been mandated to issue a query to Madumere in this regard.
On whether it would not amount to contempt of court if the Assembly went ahead to carry out the impeachment move since the Deputy Governor had already gone to court to challenge moves to sack him, the Speaker made it clear that he was yet to be served by the court.
, however, added that if eventually he was served, he would obey the court as a law abiding citizen.
Meanwhile, Speaker Ihim has debunked reports that the Assembly had concluded plans to urge Governor Rochas Okorocha to provide land for the construction of Fulani cattle ranch in the state, against the resolution of the South east governors last week.
The speaker made it clear that no part of Imo land would be given out for that purpose, adding that it was the figment of some people’s imagination.
