Magashi hail Nigerian Navy on mental, physical wellbeing

The Minister of Defence, Gen Bashir Magashi (rtd) has hailed the Nigerian Navy on the commitment towards ensuring the requisite standards of mental and physical wellbeing of its personnel across the country.

Magashi made this commendation during the closing ceremony of the 12th Nigerian Navy Games 2022 held at Navy Sports Complex, Navy town, Lagos.

The minister said the construction of the Nigerian Navy Sports Complex as well as the games were clear importance the Nigerian Navy ascribed to physical fitness and mental alertness required by personnel of the Armed Forces to overcome challenges and increasing demands across spectrums of theaters of operation.

“The desire by the Nigerian Navy to commit resources towards ensuring personnel maintain requisite standards of mental and physical wellbeing is commendable.

“I am sincerely delighted at the honour of making these remarks at the closing ceremony of the Twelfth Nigerian Navy Games, which commenced about 5 days ago at this Sports Complex. 

“It is also gratifying that this new edifice hosted the Nigerian Navy Games, sequel to the commissioning on 8 September 2022 by the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammadu Buhari.

“I am also aware that new discoveries and talents that would represent the Nigerian Navy and the nation at national and international completions have been identified,” he said.

Also speaking, Minister for Sports, Mr Sunday Dare acknowledged that in the past decades, the greatest number of sporting talents in Nigeria came from the forces; the Police, Navy, Army and Airforce.
