Magu: Probe more appointees, APC leaders, ADP tells Buhari

The national leadership of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) has urged President Muhammad Buhari, to order for a comprehensive probe of some his appointees and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who have been accused of various corruption allegations.

The party said the ongoing presidential investigation should not be limited to the suspended acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ibrahim Magu.

The opposition party also denied media report in some quarters the some members of the ADP defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of governorship election in Edo state.

Addressing a press conference at its national headquarters in Abuja,  Wednesday, national chairman of the party Engr Sani Yabagi, said those who claimed to have defected to the PDP were not members of ADP abinitio.

Yabagi said his party and its governorship candidate were ready to emerge victorious at the forthcoming election.

“We are ready in Edo state and all our structures are intact. We implore Nigerians to disregard some political jobbers who are not on our party registered but claimed claimed to have defected to PDP. These charlatans are never members of our great party abinitio.

Also speaking on phone to the newsmen, the ADP governorship candidate said already his party has up to 200 campaign teams across the state.

He said Edo voters should ignore the claim of defection by some elements who were not members of ADP abnitio.

“We gathered from the press that a spokesman of the PDP announced that the state executive of ADP has collapsed it’s structures to PDP. It is a lie from the pit of hell.

“Contrary to the speculation, it is the PDP members that are talking to us because they don’t believe in the viability of governor Godwin Obaseki, because even if he wins the forthcoming election they believe that Court will eventually decide who becomes the next governor of Edo state but we are confident of our viable candidate.”

On the ongoing probe of Magu, the ADP national chairman said: “We also want to observe with measure excitement with what is happening in EFCC because the former acting chairman is been investigating.

“We call for thorough investigation of more people in the ruling party and some of the appointees of the administration. It is not only Magu that should be investigated. We want the government to go a step further by investigate some known APC leaders who have been indicted of corruption at different levels.”
