‘Maiduguri custom flyover, a major boost to North West economy’

The timely  completion  and commissioning of the first flyover in North-East by President Mohammadu Buhari in December 2021 has been a major boost to the economy of Borno state and the whole of the north east.

The bridge was designed to ease the notorious gridlock in the Customs House a roundabout that links the city to international highways leading to Cameroon and parts of Central Africa, and since its completion   it has been a big   boost to economic activities in the state and beyond.

Ado Ibrahim, a transporter who said he has been using the route for over two decades noted that there has been remarkable improvement in traffic in the area. “before this flyover was completed, there was heavy gridlock in this area and many of our drivers spend hours trying to nevigate the gridlock, several working hours was lost by commuters and businesses around here was bad. But since the completion of this bridge it has greatly improved free flow of traffic in this area  which has in turn increased economic activities. Many people who use to avoid this area as a result of the traffic situation no longer have any fear coming here to do their businesses  as a result of the free flowing traffic”.

Speaking in similar vein, Samuel Yakubu praised the government of the state for its vision and focus,  noting that for many years the road was abandoned by successive administrations. “You can see for yourself the quality of the road and how this whole area has changed since EEC completed this project, our governor is a man of vision and focus the completion of this road is a testament to that fact.”

He said the  Borno  first flyover with upper and lower lanes at the old Customs roundabout is among the legacy projects executed by the administration of Professor Babagana Umara Zulum and commissioned by President Mohammadu Buhari during his visit to Borno state in December 2021.

Speaking on the completion of the project recently in Abuja the Managing Director of EEC Mr. Wan said that his Eighteenth Engineering Company was committed to given Nigerians quality projects which are delivered on time.

“The bridge is just one of the many projects we have executed in Nigeria. Our watch word is quality infrastructure delivered on time ”
