Maikaba likes NPFL summit

Wikki Tourists head coach, Abdul Maikaba has said his side are not head swollen over their prime position on the top flight log.
The leaders are heading back to their home ground, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium (ATBS), Bauchi after two-match sojourn in Gombe for the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) midweek match day 15 clash against Giwa FC.
Maikaba said his side have greatly improved in the last four matches and hope to continue the almost flawless run against the Tin City side, Giwa FC.

“We are not relenting but always working very hard to remain among the topmost teams on the log.
“However, we climbed to the summit after Sunday’s away victory at FC Ifeanyiubah. Now we are on top of the log it is a new challenge to strive to maintain the status quo.
“We want to consolidate the leadership position and any three points is quite important to keep the momentum and that is our main mission against Giwa FC.

Teams rightly believe they can win anywhere so we are not taking anything or opponents for granted.
“We always work hard and plan well leaving other things to God and I’m happy with the level of cooperation from the players.
“I have already preached to them not to allow the new status quo to enter into their heads as teams have been there previously but tighten their belts to finish the race on high.

Our target is to win the title for the first time at the end of the ongoing league season,” said the former Enyimba coach to supersport.com.
The Bauchi-based side lead the 20-team top flight league on 27 points from possible 42 in the 14-week old league.
