Mailantarki FC lift World U-19 Dana Cup

The Mailantarki Care FC have emerged the champions of the 2022 Dana Cup International Youth Championship in Denmark.

The Mailantarki lads are the only Nigerian club in this year’s Dana Cup produced an all round unbeaten performance across its fixtures coupled with a record 40 goals including the lone goal scored by Emmanuel Micheal Papo against Vibar FK of Norway in the final game at Nord Energy Arena Hjørring on Saturday.

Top best performers in the team are Miko Dalha who emerged highest goal scorer of the championship, netting eight times, followed by Abdulazeez Maiyadi and Auwal Abba with seven and six goals, respectively.

Another dazzling performer in the tourney is the young sensational Ibrahim Sani who assisted 12 times scoring three goals.

Emmanuel Micheal Papo broke the jinx three minutes to full time after the Gombe club side’s highest goal scorer, Miko Dalha, set the former on the run inside the Vibar box before firing low beneath the forward-surging goalkeeper in his near post to send spectators in the Nord Energy Arena into rupture.

The goal turned out to be the difference after Mailantarki goalie, Edward Ameh, came to the rescue earlier with a brilliant finger-tip save to tame a powerful header by the opponent.

The contingent will proceed to Oslo for another high profile International championship, the Norway Cup 2022, starting on Monday, August 1.
