Mainan Zazzau appointed ECOWAS financial controller

Economic Commission of West African States (ECOWAS)  commission has appointed Dr. Muhammad Sani Bello as Financial Controller of the 15-member regional body.

A letter signed by the Commissioner, Administration and Finance, Khadi R. Saccoh, stated that the appointment followed Bello’s success in the interview for Statutory Appointees in Community Institutions and subsequent endorsement by the Council of Ministers at its Extraordinary Session held on 23rd January, 2014.

Bello is amongst the new commissioners appointed into the expanded ECOWAS Commission, bringing the membership of the Commission’s management to 15 in line with the decision of regional Heads of State and Government.
Announcing the new appointments, His Excellency Kadre Desire Ouedraogo, President of the Commission, explained that the new management staffers are expected to reinforce the human resource capacity which “is absolutely necessary for the success of the activities of the institutions of the Commission.”
Born on October 12, 1964, Bello holds a Bsc, Msc and PhD in Accounting and Finance, all from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, Kaduna state.

He is also an alumnus of the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, USA.
A Fellow of the Institute of Cost Management, the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Nigeria and a member of the National Accountants of Nigeria, Dr. Sani Bello worked with the defunct Continental Merchant Bank, Guaranty Trust Bank, and the United Bank for Africa before he became a lecturer and later Head of Department of Accounting at the ABU.
