Maina’s sister to court: I don’t ‘ve anything to do with companies, bank accounts linked to me

Sister to Ex-Pension Reform Chairman’s Abdulrasheed Maina, Fatima Abdullahi, Wednesday, told the Federal High Court, Abuja, that she was not aware of the companies and bank accounts opened in her name by her brother.

Fatima, who shared the same parents with Maina, said she became aware of the companies when she was arrested by EFCC operatives in Kaduna.

Meanwhile, the court has also varied the remand order of Faisal Abdulrasheed Maina, the 20-year-old son of former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team, PRTT, Abdulrasheed Maina.

Justice Okon Abang had on October 25 remanded Faisal in the custody of the Inspector General of Police Special Tactical Squad in Asokoro, Abuja.

But, following an application filed by his Counsel, Mohammed Monguno, to vary the remand order, the trial judge transferred the defendant to the Nigeria Correctional Center, Kuje pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions.

While the former pension boss is facing 12 counts of money laundering, operating fictitious bank accounts and fraud, his son is facing three counts of receiving money known to be from unlawful proceeds under a fictitious name.

The judge adjourned the matter till 16 December for continuation of trial.
