Makurdi ethanol plant to employ 2500 staff

Pure Biotech company Limited, an Ethanol production plant currently under construction in Makurdi, when completed, would have the capacity to produce between 300 to 500 metric tonnes of dried and fresh cassava respectively daily as raw materials.

Also, the plant would employ more than 2,500 people to work in the company.
Representative of the company, Mr Stephen Numbeve, said this when Governor Samuel Ortom paid a working visit to the company at Tyo Mu in Makurdi Monday adding that the company will also attract a lot of economic benefits to the area.


Numbeve said the company acquired 25.4 hectares of land for the development of its facilities adding that construction work on the site commenced January, this year.
He apologised on behalf of the company for not following due procedures for the acquisition of land and sitting of the company, saying they would retrace their steps and fulfill necessary conditions as law abiding citizens.


Responding, Gov Ortom, who accepted the apology, urged foreign private investors and others within the country to explore the investment opportunities available in the state fondly called the food basket state of Nigeria.
