Malnutrition: Nasarawa provides food, supplements to 1,000 children

The Nasarawa state government said it has provided nutritional foods and supplements to 1,000 malnourished children in the state to improve on their health.

State commissioner for women affairs Hajiya Halima Ahmadu Jabiru, disclosed this on Thursday, during 2020 budget assessment before the house committee on women affairs in Lafia the Nasarawa state capital.

She said the ministry has put a machinery in motion to train women on how to produced locally made nutritional foods, calling on the committee to support the ministry in that direction.

She said a total of 150 women have been trained on women empowerment scheme and the ministry needs more funds to engage them with capital and other supports.

The commissioner equally called for the assembly’s support to revamp the ministry’s erstwhile women multipurpose centre, of which the governor has approved a site for the program.

The house committee chairman on women affairs, Hon. Samuel Tsebe, (PDP Akwanga south) commended the effort of the commissioner and her team for achieving a lot in the ministry and pledges the assembly’s support to address their emerging challenges.

“I most commend you and your management staff for the success you have recorded so far. Keep the good work please” Tsebe  added.
