Man, 37, to die by hanging for murder in Osun


Justice Adedotun Onibokun of an Osun state high court sitting in Ile-ife, Tuesday sentenced a 37-year-old man, Ogunyemi Oluleke, to death by hanging over murder.


The convict was arraigned on March 6, 2013 on two counts charges of murder and conspiracy to murder contrary to section 319 and 324 of the criminal code cap 34, laws of Osun state.


He was said to have committed the crime at Iredunmi and Oketase areas of Ile-ife at about 10:00am on 17th February, 2010.


He was said to have killed one Moshood Babalola by cutting off his head with knife at an offence, punishable by death. 


Prosecution counsel from the Ministry of Justice, Tijani Adekunle, called five witnesses and tendered several exhibit to proof the case.


A police Inspector Rasheedat Olanrewaju, during the hearing, told the court that the decomposed body of the deceased was found in the house of the convict. 


The convict had earlier confessed that he killed Babalola for rituals.


Justice Onibokun held the convict guilty of the crime and sentenced him to death by hanging.
