Man bags 11- years for possessing human skull

 

An Osun state High Court, sitting in Osogbo, the state capital, yesterday, sentenced a middle- age man, Moshood Babatunde, to 11 years imprisonment for unlawful possession of human part.

The convict was arraigned on a four- count charge bothering on conspiracy, unlawful possession of human part, among others.

The charges preferred against the convict is contrary to, and punishable under sessions 516, 242(1)(b) 329A(1) and 242 (b) of the Criminal Code Law, Cap.34, Vol. II, Laws of Osun State, 2002.

According to a statement issued by the Information Officer, Osun state Ministry of Justice, Mr. Opeyemi Bello, Babatunde and one Babatunde Adebayo were arrested on 13 October, 2011. But, Adebayo is still at large.

It said that the prosecution team from the ministry led by the Attorney- General of the state and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Ajibola Basiru, called three witnesses and tendered nine exhibits during the trial.

In his judgement, Justice Kudirat Akano, held that the prosecution had proved its case beyond the reasonable doubt and convicted the accused him accordingly.

Justice Akano sentenced him to eleven years imprisonment, stressing that the jail term would run concurrently.
