A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Osogbo, the state Osun capital, has sentenced a 23-year-old man, Tunji Oluyera to three months’ jail, for stealing techno mobile phone valued at N42,000.

The convict was arraigned by the Osun state police command on Monday. He was said to have stolen the mobile phone belonging to one Akanni Akeem.

According to the police, the offence was contrary to and punishable under section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol II, Laws of Osun state of Nigeria, 2003.

The prosecutor, Mrs Shoyemi Bose, told the court that the convict committed the offence on October 12, 2019 at Dada Estate, Osogbo.

The convict pleaded guilty to the two count charge of stealing and unlawful entering, preferred against him by the police.

His counsel, Mr Okobie Najite, urged the court to temper justice with mercy on the convict being a first time offender.

He said the convict had promised to change for good if the court could be merciful to him.
