Man bags 3 months jail term for house breaking in Osogbo

A 22-year-old man, Akanmu Rasheed, was on Thursday sentenced to three months imprisonment by Magistrate Adebola Ajanaku sitting in Osogbo, for breaking into house. 

The police prosecutor, ASP. Fagboyinbo Abiodun, told the court that the convict committed the crime on January 5, 2020, at about 3:00am at Zone 9 behind capital Hotel area, Oke-Arugbo, Osogbo.

Fagboyinbi said the convict broke through the fence and entered the house of one Akinsipe Emmanuel.

According to the charge sheet, the offence contravened the provision of section 509 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. ll, law of Osun state, 2002.

The accused pleaded guilty to the two charges of house breaking and attempted stealing, leveled against him by the police.

His Counsel, Mr. Ibrahim Imran, prayed the court to be merciful in sentencing his client, saying he has regretted his action and he his ready to repent.

But, the prosecution told the court that the convict had committed similar offence, on December 31, 2019 and was arraigned before another Magistrate court.

Magistrate Ajanaku thereby, sentenced him to 3 months imprisonment with the option of fine of N10,000.
