Man bags life imprisonment for defiling teenager

Justice Hakeem Oshodi of the Lagos State High Court, yesterday, sentenced a 25-year-old man, Ediong Udoh, to life imprisonment for defiling a 16-year-old girl.
Oshodi found accused guilty of defilement and sexual assault by penetration contrary to sections 137 and 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
In his judgement, Justice Oshodi agreed that the prosecution led by the State Attorney General, Mr. Adeniji Kazeem proved beyond doubt that Udoh, the accused intentionally lured the victim to a house at No 27, Adekunle Street at Ayobo Area of Lagos, under the pretext of getting her a job and forcefully had carnal knowledge of the victim, who at the time was a minor, through her vagina and anus.
The court further agreed with the prosecution that all ingredients of the offences of defilement and sexual assault by penetration was proved against the Udoh.
The two offences for which he was found guilty attract life imprisonment.
In a related development, a 26-year-old man, Chibuzor Emealo, who allegedly abducted and raped a 13-year-old girl, was yesterday remanded in Kirikiri Prisons on the orders of an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
The Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi, who refused to take the plea of the accused, said he should be kept behind bars pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions.
Emealo, a resident of Edidi Street, Amukoko, a Lagos suburb, is being tried for defilement.
The accused, according to the Police Prosecutor, ASP Ezekiel Ayorinde, committed the offence on June 11, 2018, at Orile-Iganmu, Lagos.
He alleged that the accused forcefully took the girl away from the custody of her parents and had a carnal knowledge of her.
The magistrate adjourned the case till July 25, for mention.
