A Professor, Charles Oluokun, has dragged a lawyer, Mr. M. A. Laogun, and his son, Bar. A. A. Laogun, to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged land racketeering.
A petition written by one Adebowale Oluokun and Adekunle Adeniyi on behalf of the Professor, alleged that the duo of the father and son illegally paraded themselves as Solicitors/lawyers of Oluokun and sold parcels of land belonging to the petitioner.
According to the petition received by the EFCC on October 11, 2019, the parcel of land is situated at Agun farm, Dada Estate (now Temidire Estate, Osogbo).
The petition reads in part: “that Prof Charles Oyedemi Oluokun is the rightful owner of the parcel of land, situate, lying and being at Agun farm, Dada Estate (now Temidire Estate), Osogbo, Osun state, measuring approximately 2.257 hectares by virtue of a certificate of statutory right of occupancy registered as No36 in page 36 in volume 2905 dated 31st day of July, 1989 in the land registry at Ibadan, now Osogbo.
“That Barrister M. A. Laogun and Barrister A. A. Laogun illegally paraded themselves as Solicitors/lawyers of Professor Charles Oluokun on the said property with following documents: receipt of payment dated 3rd day December, 1966, forged by Barrister M. A. Laogun, petition to the commissioner of police, Osun state command, dated 25th day of May, 2011, written by Barrister A. A. Laogun.
“That with the above forged/fake documents, Barrister M. A. Laogun and Barrister A. A. Laogun illegally sold larger parts of the land/property running into millions of naira to unsuspected land purchasers.
“That Professor Oluokun has issued disclaimer against Barrister M. A. Laogun and Barrister A. A. Laogun on two occasions.
He urged the EFCC to investigate what he described as “fraudulent activities” over the land.
