The Police in the FCT have arraigned a 23-year-old businessman, Emeka Nnate, before a Wuse Zone 2 Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing a cell phone.
The defendant is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and theft.
Police Prosecutor, Mr Kufreabasi Ebong, told the court that the accused committed the offences on October 31, 2018, at 10 am.
Ebong said that the defendant removed the phone from a car belonging to one Mr Bitrus Makama of Cairo Street, Wuse Zone 2, Abuja.
He said police investigation confirmed that Nnate committed the offences which contravened Sections 97 and 287 of the Penal Code.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mr Abba Tukur, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N50,000, with one surety in like sum, and adjourned the case until March 28, 2018, for hearing.
