Man in police net for giving false information

A 42-year-old man, Yomi Adeyomoye, has been arraigned before an Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly giving false information to the police.
The prosecutor, Corporal Adebayo Ayorinde, told the court that the accused raised a false alarm that led to the arrest and detention of one Mrs. Adebisi Adeyemi.

According to him, the accused had on July 7, 2013, at Oda Police Division, near Akure, gave false information to the police officer on duty, claiming that one Adeyemi came to his house with thugs with intension to kill him.
The offence, he said, contravened Section 125 (1), (a) and (b) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the offence.

Counsel to the accused, Mr. Umar Bamisile, urged the court to grant him bail on liberal terms.
In her ruling, the Magistrate, Folashade Ajayi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She said one of the sureties must be a grade level 12 officer in the civil service and must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
Further hearing has been adjourned to May 28.
