MAN raises the alarm over multiple taxation in Delta

The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) Edo and Delta states chapter on Wednesday raised the alarm over alleged multiple taxation on its members by the Delta state government.

MAN however called for the flush out of touts and area boys who occupied all the major road in the state for extortion.

Chairman of the association, Mr Okwara Udensi stated this when he led its exco on a courtesy visit to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state in Asaba.

According to him, “We are aware of the harmonisation of the levies of the different agencies of State government, however, there are ambiguities on the demand notice issued by the board of Internal Revenue to our members.

“We are requested for further clarification and some level of state control over the hirelings of some local government personnel as they waylay our members for payment of unpublished and unpublicized levies and rates.

“The state government should ensure the outright removal of touts and area boys who rule the major roads in the state.

He said that one of the challenges faced by the manufactures was lack of steady power supply, urging the Delta state government to create industrial clusters and provide Independent Power Plants to serve each clusters.
