Man remanded in prison for ‘murder’

An Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court has ordered the remand of one Friday Apata, 34, in prison for the alleged murder of a 40-year-old man, Sesan Akinrinmade.
Apata on arraignment pleaded not guilty to a one-count charge of murder.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Olasunkanmi Bamikole, told the court that the accused committed the offence on January 30, 2018, at Ijadu Village in Ado Ekiti.
He said the deceased went to a scene of a communal clash where he was attacked by the accused because the accused thought that he was an enemy.
Bamikole said the offence contravened Section 325 of the Criminal Code, Cap C16, Law of Ekiti State, 2012.
The Magistrate, Mrs Modupe Afeniforo, after ordering the remand of the accused in prison, adjourned the case till March 2, pending legal advice from the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP).
