Masaka market butchers kick as election holds Saturday

Butchers Association (MBA) has stated their position regarding the forthcoming Masaka Traders Association (MTA), billed for this Saturday, saying their preferred choice for the chairman’s seat should be a literate person with knowledge of the job. Speaking through the Auditor, Jamila Abdulrasheed, the caretakerchairman of the association, Nafi r Mohammed, said: “I have a choice, a man that will be educated, know the problem of the traders in the market and his work.”

He said the market had been confronted with numerous problems of which he mentioned the major ones to be lack of motor able road leading to the market and lack of price control in the market. Recently, the mega market that generates huge revenue to the state government was gutted by fi re leading to loss of astronomical amount of monies including properties. Governor Umaru Tanko AlMakura visited the scene of the incident shortly and promised to donate N12 million to the market as a relief package which Blueprint gathered, he had done already. Th e butchers expressed their appreciation to the governor‘s gesture and “sensitivity to the plight of the traders.”
