…Says you can’t get Biafra by killing your people
Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has condemned the gruesome murder of innocent Biafran citizens by the enemies of Ndigbo who are masquerading as freedom fighters.
Recall that there had been many killings in the South-east in recent time; the most recent being the gruesome killing of the chairman of Ideato local government area in Imo state.
The pro-Biafra group, therefore, while condemning the killings in a statement signed by its director of information, Comrade Samuel Edeson, frowned upon the development, noting that it was no longer agitation for Biafra, but something else.
The statement read in part, “It is no longer agitation for Biafran freedom because you cannot be killing your brothers and sisters in the name of Biafra.
“It is evil and abomination in Igbo land for one to kill his own brother or sister because of their different beliefs, even if they don’t believe in Biafra with you, you don’t have to kill them. What happened in Awgu yesterday at PDP campaign rally is a sacrilege and should be condemned by peace-loving citizens.
“MASSOB has maintained our stand on Biafra agitation which remains sacrosanct. You can’t get Biafra by killing your people because they belong to one political party or the other. You can gain their support through sensitisation and not by forcing them to join you.”
It read further, “MASSOB wish to make it clear that these killer squads are working against Igbo interest, or being paid by our enemies to destroy Ala Igbo. They have destroyed the economy of Ndigbo, they have turned south east into war zone, killing people at will.
“The attack on the innocent citizens of Awgu yesterday and killing unarmed woman, inflicted others with injury is a clear evidence that they are truly enemies of Ndigbo. MASSOB is pleading with these unknown gunmen to rethink if actually they are working for Biafra actualisation.”
