Matawalle okays EUR 232,000 fee for Cyprus varsity students

Zamfara state governor, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has approved the payment of EUR 232,000.00 into the Cyprus International University bank account as school fees for the 91 students of the state who are studying in the university.

This was made known by the state Commissioner of Information, Hon. Ibrahim Magaji Dosara, in a statement made available to Blueprint, Tuesday.

According to the statement, the Central Bank of Nigeria will complete clearance this week and subsequently release the fund into the students’ account.

“Distribution of the money include, EUR 200,000 as tuition, accommodation and meal fees being paid out of EUR 297,509.11 initially owed for the 2021-2022 academic year; EUR 23,157.00 for Residence Permit; and EUR 8,843.00 to be distributed across the 91 students,”  he said.

“The government therefore appeals to the students, parents and the university to exercise more patience, as the matter will soon be resolved and the students will continue their studies with minimum delay.

“The government also calls on misguided political blackmail and mischief makers to always cross check issues before going to press, to allow this country progress,” he added.

According to him, the students were sent to various institutions of higher learning across various countries within Africa and overseas to study medicine and its related courses, including engineering, technology and other science-based courses in India, Cyprus, US, UK, Neither land, Sudan.
