Matawalle signs LG Repeal/Re-enactment Bill into law

The Zamfara state governor, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has assented to a bill for a law to repeal and re-enact the Zamfara state local government laws and for other matters connected therewith 2021.

The governor who assented to the bills at his office Friday, according to a press statement by the director-general on public enlightenment media and communications, Yusuf Idris, said the repealed laws “will provide a good atmosphere for the administration of local government councils in the state.”

“The repealed laws, local government law 2012 and local government (amendment law) 2015 and local government administration, play a very vital role in bringing more development to the grassroots,” he said.

Blueprint reports that only last week, Governor Matawalle had assented to the local government autonomy law where he gave the assurance that transparent and good management of local government resources “will be free from corrupt practices.”

The bill, according to the statement, was presented to the governor for assent by the speaker of the House of Assembly, Nasiru Ma’azu Magarya, and the clerk of the House, Shehu Saidu Anka.
