May 29 inauguration: Yobe opts for low key eevent as Mai Mala takes oath of office inside govt house


As preparation towards the swearing-in of Yobe state governor-elect, Mai Mala Buuni, and his deputy, Idi Barde Gubana gather momentum, the government has said the inauguration/swearing-in will hold in a low key.

This was disclosed on Monday by the Chairman Sub-committee on Publicity who is also the honourable commissioner of Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Mala Musti.

“The inauguration/swearing-in ceremony will be low-keyed because of the pronouncement by President Muhammadu Buhari that henceforth Democracy day will be celebrated on 12th June every year.

“The main venue for the swearing-in of Mai Mala Buni is government house Damaturu while the democracy day will be celebrated at August 27
Stadium Damaturu,” he said.

He chairman further said, preparations are on to top gear to provide conducive seating arrangements for the hosting of the dignitaries especially those coming from outside the state.

According to the Chairman, attendance will be strictly on invitation and that necessary security arrangements have been put in place to ensure security of lives and properties.
