MD Isah, 33 other Infantry generals bow out

Recently, the former Corps Commander, Infantry Corp, CIC, Major General MD Isah, and 33 other infantry generals were pulled out from the Army in a colourful ceremony. JIBRIN BABA NDACE reports

Recently, Jaji Military Cantonment popularly referred to as the ‘Home of Infantry’ was agog with the pulling out of some senior infantry officers of the rank of one and two stars generals who retired from the infantry arm of the Nigerian Army between 2005 and 2015. Speaking at the occasion, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen KTJ Minimah who was represented by the GOC 1 Division, Maj Gen Kenneth Chimezie Osuji expressed great fulfillment in re-awakening the long time custom of celebrating Generals leaving the service honorably as a sign of respect. Earlier on, the Special Guest of Honour and the Reviewing Officer of the parade, Maj Gen JO Shoboiki (rtd), also a beneficiary expressed appreciation to the organizers of this auspicious occasion to mark a formal disengagement from active service and to be back in Jaji, a place which have molded officers to be what they are today.

While expressing optimistic that the nation will surmount on- going security challenges, he further asserted the desire of the reirees to continue to remain resolute, focused and loyal to the constituted authorities.
The Chief Host and the Commander Infantry Corps, Maj Gen Mohammed Danlami expressed delight to all who had honoured the invitation.
Infantry Generals pulled out include Maj Gen  OM Appah, Y Usman, RL Apata, SBS Biliyok, ZY Yaduma, SP Guar, JO Shoboiki, JAO Ochoga and BA  Debiro. Others are Brigadier Generals SA Songonuga, LI Lawal, AJ Oladeinde, DA Lubo, EM Ukagu, AA Awotoye, AO Taiwo, OB Akinfolarin, SG Ladipo and U Chima. They were subsequently treated to a Valedictory Lunch at the Infantry Officers’ Mess. Jaji.
