Media group condemns Al-Makura over Breeze FM demolition

The Eggon Media Practitioners Association (EMPA) has described as barbaric and show of excessive power the action of Nasarawa State Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura for ordering the demolition of Breeze 99.9 FM for allegedly criticising his administration.

According to a statement signed by chairman of the group, Comrade Moses J Akwashiki, EMPA said the action of the Governor negate the ideals of democracy which guaranteed freedom of expression.
Comrade Akwashiki further lamented over increasing unemployment rate in the state, adding that this would further push those engage by the media outfit into the labour market.
The statement reads in part”We the Eggon Media Practitioners Association (EMPA) join well meaning groups and individuals to condemn in strong tame the demolition of breeze 99.9fm Lafia by the Nasarawa State Government on May 20th, 2017 for just no coursed.

“This excessive show of power and impunity, must stop because no right thinking individual could contemplate anything near what the state government did.
“The action is barbaric and negate the ideals of democracy, as the people of Nasawara state didn’t vote for a tarrant who does not tolerate the freedom of the press.
“It is a shame for Governor Tanko Al. Makura to consider this action, which ordinary he would have thought of the effect of his action which is culpable of pushing many into the labour market.
