Medical union: Olayinka, other execeutive get fresh mandate in Kwara

The national headquarters of Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN), Tuesday, concluded the process of electing new executive members of its Kwara State chapter with the swearing of Comrade Muritala Saheed Olayinka, as Chairman for a second term.

Other inaugurated executive of the union  are Comrade Adegbite Jewoola Vice chairman, Bolatito Oladele Treasurer, Mudi  Garuba Auditor, Comr. Gbadamosi  Akanbi Public Relations Officer, and Comr. Dikko Adebayo as Trustee.

The new officers were sworn -in by the union’ s Legal Adviser and Deputy Secretary General, Barrister Tony Oghagbon, at a ceremony held at the state secretariat of the union in Eruda , Ilorin.

Secretary General of the union, Dr Silas Adamu, who supervised  the inauguration of the new exceutives on behalf of the national president, Dr Biobelemoye Joy Josiah, expressed satisfaction that the process had been concluded.

Speaking at the ceremony, Adamu, said the inaugurated officers had emerged unopposed at the October 15,  botched delegates conference of the union held at Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MIINILS ), Ilorin

He said the election of the new officers “were conducted in line with the constitutional guidelines of the union” before the conference was disrupted mid way by some members who acted contrary to rule 28 of the union.

Adamu said report submitted to the national secretariat of the union by the returning officer accompanied with vedio clips, showed that the inaugurated officers had emerged at the October 15 botched delegates conference through affirmation without counter motion.

He said the only process left before the violent disruption of the exercise by some members of the union was the swearing of the new exceutives which was the reason why the was in Ilorin .

In his acceptance speech, Olayinka, extended hands of fellowship to those who lost out in the process of election urging them to look beyond personal interest but the overall interest of the union.

The chairman said his administration would welcome contribution from members who have genuine interest in moving the union forward and called on all members of the union to join hands with him .

He assured that his administration would continue to ensure welfare of members takes centre stage of his administration
