Mercy Corps donates COVID-19 vaccine guide, referral forms, others to Yobe PHC

As part of efforts to prevent Yobe state from the danger of corona various , a Non-Governmental Organization, Mercy Corps on Thursday handed over COVID-19 vaccine guide, and referral forms to Yobe state Primary Health Care Management Board (YPHCMB).

The handing over ceremony took place at the Primary Health Care Management Board office complex along Gashua road in Damaturu, the state capital.

Mercy Corps Behavioral Change Communications Program Manager Sabiu Suleiman Shehu, delivered a speech on behalf of INGO Partners of the Vaccine Access Program.

Shehu appreciated the support the program has been getting from all stakeholders, frontline health workers,as well as the state social mobilization team, among other key departments of the board.

He added that as part of the goal of promoting vaccine access,confidence, and uptake in line with the recently launched SCALES 3.0 strategy, INGO Collaborative in partnership with the social mobilization team, developed a COVID-19 vaccine referral form and vaccine access guide to complement government efforts.
He said the program will distribute hygiene kits to innovative communities to support COVID-19 vaccine uptake and other primary health care services.

“In line with the purpose of collaborating with SPHCB to support the COVID-19 rollout campaigns, including door-to-door sensitization and development of messaging through the use of already existing community structures from the date of execution of this MOU until.
“April 30th, 2023, Mercy Corps developed a draft MoU to formally set out the parameters of the relationship between Mercy Corps and YPHCMB in the development and implementation of agreed projects, beginning from the date of execution of this MOU”, he said.
