Metering: BEDC begins customers enumeration

The Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) has urged customers to support the ongoing enumeration exercise in its franchise states of Edo, Delta, Ondo and Ekiti

The company’s Chief Transformation and Strategy Officer, Mr. Ernest Edgar, in a statement said the exercise was in compliance with the directive of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

Edgar explained that the move is also geared towards improving accuracy in billing, improving quality of supply, prompt response to faults and proper planning for network expansion.

He urged customers “to cooperate with our enumerators who will be going round (door-to-door) to Customers’ premises in the four states by responding promptly to requests for completion of enumeration forms.”

According to him, the enumeration exercise was important for customers given the tremendous benefits “in the area of improvement in the quality of metering for efficient billing.”

Managing Director/CEO of BEDC, Mrs. Funke Osibodu, said parties selected from the Meter Asset Provider (MAP) financial bid review have been submitted to NERC for clearance.
