The former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd), yesterday, declined to testify in the ongoing trial of the former Publicity Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisah Metuh, before the Federal High Court, Abuja.
The detained former NSA boss, was finally produced in court by the Department of State Security (DSS), through a subpoena to appear as a witness in Mutuh’s money laundering case.
Dasuki is the defence witness number eight in the charge of N400million bordering on corruption brought against him Metuh by the federal government
When led in evidence by counsel to the defendant, Mr. Emeka Etiaba (SAN), Dasuki said he could not remember the details of the transaction where was said to make payment of N400million in the charges against Metuh.
He explained that he had “been incarceration for over two years and has no access to documents needed to give any meaningful evidence.
“That will be very difficult for me to give any details of the money paid to Chief Olisa Metuh and the second defendant (Destra Investment Limited) without reference to my records.”
When asked if he recalled the functions of his previous office, he said: “I know the functions of the office of NSA. It is essentially a principal staff officer in the office of the President.”
On the reason he was brought to court, he answered: “I am here to answer to subpoena issued by this court, even though I have not benefitted from other court rulings.”
And when Etiaba (SAN) asked if he could tell the court about the transaction he had with Metuh, which formed the basis for the charge against the defendant, Dasuki answered in the negative.
In his ruling, Justice Okon Abang adjourned the matter till today for ruling
