The Mexican Embassy in Nigeria’s capital hosted a high-Octane reception Thursday in Abuja the nation’s capital in commemoration of its 212th Independence Day.
Every year on September 16, Mexico celebrates its Independence Day as a grand festival with music, fireworks and more.
Envoys of different countries, government dignitaries including the Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, the Media, friends of Mexico and other invited guests thronged the venue of the 2022 Mexico Independence Day in Nigeria’s capital city.
“This is a moment of celebration. It’s our 212th Independence Day and you could see Mexicans singing their national anthem with pride. It is also an opportunity to showcase our culture, foods, drinks, the way we are and also interface with Nigerians and other invited guests of diverse backgrounds on a day like this.
“Over the years, we have built strong ties and this moment for us is a reflection of our age-long bilateral relations that we share. Don’t forget that the Mexico and Nigeria bilateral relationships started in 1976 and both countries have deepened their relationships over the years,”Ambassador Alfredo Miranda said in a chat with newsmen at the event in Abuja.
Miranda added that Nigeria and Mexico are two big economies, saying the Nigeria-Mexico Chamber of Commerce is also working hard to sustain the vision.

The Ambassador further reiterated the need for both countries to strengthen its relationships in business and other areas.
The embassy used the occasion to showcase an exhibition, souvenirs, Mexican’s food and drinks as well as other collections relating to the Mexican’s culture and way of life.
