Military kills scores of ISWAP fighters in Lake Chad fringes

The Defence Headquarters said the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has killed scores of Islamic State West Africa Province  (ISWAP)  fighters  and destroyed their hideouts and logistics structures at Tumbuma Baba, one of the Island settlements on the fringes of the Lake Chad in Borno state.

Coordinator Defence Media Operations,  Maj.  Gen.  John Enenche said the operation was conducted on 29 September 2020 under the subsidiary Operation HAIL STORM 2 “after Human Intelligence (HUMINT) reports indicated that several ISWAP fighters and some of their leaders had converged in some structures concealed under the thick vegetation of the area, preparing to launch an attack.”

He said the Air Task Force  tdispatched a force package of NAF fighter jets and helicopter gunships to engage the locoation,  which  scored “devastating hits on the settlement, killing several terrorists and destroying their hideouts and logistic structure. “
