Minimum wage: Pepple, Ngige, Wabba, 27 others for inauguration today

A former Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Ama Pepple, Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Ayuba Wabba, and 27 others eminent Nigerians will today be inaugurated by President Muhammadu Buhari, as members of National Minimum Wage Committee, to negotiate a new minimum wage for workers.
The committee is made up of persons from the public sector, which is state and federal government and the private sector which comprises the largest private employer group, the Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA), Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) and Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME).
Pepple would serve as the chairman, with Ngige as deputy, while ‎the Chairman, National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, Chief Richard Egbule, will serve as the secretary.
Other members of the committee, according to a statement issued by the deputy director (press) in the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Samuel Olowookere, are Udo Udo Ufuoma, Minister, Budget and National Planning, Udo Udo Ufoma; Minister, Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Winifred E. Oyo-Ita; the Permanent Secretary, (General Services Office), Office of these secretary to the Government of the Federation, Dr. Roy Ugo.
Membership of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) are Governor Rauf Aregbesola (Osun state, South-west); Rochas Okorocha (Imo state, South-east); Hassan Dankwambo (Gombe state, North-east); Nyesom Wike (Rivers state, South-south); Simon Lalong (Plateau state, North-central); Abubakar Atiku Baghdad (Kebbi state, North-west) and the Director-General, NGF, A. B. Okauru (Observer).
For the trade union, are‎ Comrades Peters Adeyemi, Kiri Mohammed, Amaechi Asugwuni and Peter Ozo-Eson (NLC).
Others are Comrade Bobboi Bala Kaigama (President, Trade Union Congress); Comrades Sunday Olusoji Salako and Alade Bashir Lawa (TUC); Comrade Igwe Achese (President, Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG).
For the employers; Mr. Olusegun Oshinowo, the Director-General, Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), Mr. Timothy Ola wale (NECA);
Mr. Chuma Nwankwo (NECA); Mrs. Olubunmi Adekoje, the Director-General, Federation of Construction Industry (FOCI); Alhaji Ahmed Ladan Gobir; Chairman, Kaduna East Branch, Manufacturers’ Association (MAN);
