Minister Aliyu donates relief materials to flood victims in Yobe

The Hon. Minister of State, Works and Housing, Engr. Abubakar D. Aliyu,
has donated 500 bags of assorted grains to victims of recent floods that occurred in his home state, Yobe.

A breakdown of the distribution indicates that Potiskum had the highest share of 200 bags while the remaining three local government areas of Fika, Fune and Nagere of his constituency.

Each of the constituency got 100 bags from the share of the grains.

Presenting the grains to the Chairmen of the four local governments in
Potiskum, the representative of the minister, Sani Dumbulwa, Zonal APC
Youth Leader, Yobe South, said the grains were expected to be delivered
to the individuals affected by the floods in different communities of the various affected local government.

The Hon. Minister through his representative while delivering the relief materials sympathised with the people and called on them to accept his widow’s might while describing the flood as an act of Allah, just as he called on the people to accept their fate.

The minister said the donation cannot meet their food need but however
noted that it was just a palliative to cushion the effects.

Blueprint investigations revealed that the relief materials had already reached the beneficiaries with some of them expressing gratitude to the Hon. Minister for extending his hand of generosity in their time of need.

Thirteen local government councils in Yobe state with many communities were ravaged by flood few weeks ago.

Apart from millions of naira lost from the destruction of farmlands and homes which led to the displacement of many people, several animals
were also killed by the flood.
