Minister berates poor investment, infrastructure at NIPOST

The Minister of Communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu has expressed dismay at the poor level of investment, obsolete infrastructure unenviable public image, as well as  a dysfunctional internal system.
He also said that, the Nigerian Postal Service is today bedeviled with a myriad of challenges, some of which includes but not limited to the understated:
An inefficient management structure, low level of ICT investment, poorly motivated workforce particularly the junior staff, and unredeemed pension payments, among others.

Shittu stated this while inaugurating the newly appointed Postmaster General of the Federation and the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), Barrister Asiwaju Bisi Adegbuyi at the Boardroom of the NIPOST corporate Headquarters, Garki 11, Abuja.
He emphasized that the assignment before the new Postmaster General requires deep thinking, radical ideas and team work to attain a rapid turn- around in order to produce a modern, responsive and efficient NIPOST that will be a pride not only to our dear President Muhammadu Buhari but to the entire nation.

Earlier in his welcome address the Postmaster General of the Federation Barr. Asiwaju Bisi Adegbuyi expressed gratitude to the staff and the management whom he said have expressed delight in his appointment and is therefore determined to criss-cross the nooks and cranies of the country as the new postman of the postal administration of the country. With the assurances he received from his colleagues, he said together we shall all embarked on the journey to bring into fore our nation’s progress, socio-economic development and cultural promotion thereby further bringing into limelight the name of our great country Nigeria amongst committee of nations.

Asiwaju however, opined that there were enormous challenges before him but had assured the Minister of his ability to surmount them, given the level of cooperation received from his colleagues on assumption of office.
He therefore, craved the intervention of the ministry to see to the resolution of the grey areas stalling the implementation of the stamp Duties, Postal Bill and the implementation of the National Addressing System in order to improve the economic base of the industry.
