Minister canvasses improvement of national parks

The Minister of Environment, Mrs.LaurentiaMallam has advocated for the improvement of Abuja National Park to an international standard with the view of promoting tourist activities in Nigeria.
Speaking to journalists yesterday briefly after an inspection exercise of the park in Abuja, the minister noted the socio-economic potentials of parks globally, and urged states to also engage in the development of parks to further showcase the beauty of the nation’s heritage to the world.

Furthermore, Mrs.Mallam also observed the need to improvement the seven existing national parks and creation of new ones, saying that: ”If possible every state should have it’s own national park.”
She promised to hint President Goodluck Jonathan of the challenges facing the management of the park, and assured of facilitating his visit to the park so as to scoop first hand information on how to move the place forward.
”I will see and encourage Mr. President to come here and see things for himself,” the nation’s environment said, adding that: ”I know he will try do so something and improve it so,that the entire world would come to Nigeria and see what we have.”
