Minister lauds IGP, vows to take police to next level

The Minister of Police Affairs Alhaji Mohammed Dingyadi has commended the Inspector General of Police Mohammed Adamu and his management team on reforms in the Nigeria Police Force.

Dingyadi, who vowed to take the Force to the next level, also pledged to commitment of the ministry to work harmoniously with the police boss and his team.

Speaking while playing host to the IGP Adamu and some of his management team, Wednesday, at the ministry of police affairs headquarters, federal secretariat Abuja, the minister said the police boss was doing a great work which was being acknowledge in different quarters.

He said the meeting was for the IGP and his team to brief the ministry on the activities of the force, noting that: “We thought it necessary to have this briefing because of the need for us to work together and also, the fact that I am new in the ministry. We cannot work in isolation since we are working for the police and we will perform effectively when we are fully briefed.

“We can join hands to map out strategies to move the police to the next level. I want to assure the IGP that we are going to work harmoniously and not the other way round.”

Dingyadi made case for collaboration with other security agencies to move the security of the country to the next level.

According to him, President Muhammadu Buhari deliberately recreated the ministry of police affairs to ensure that security issues were given prompt and adequate attention.

“I think we should be proud of this development and ensure that we take advantage of it to work together and seek for the cooperation of other security agencies,” he stated.

Earlier, the IGP said the meeting was to brief the minister on the activities of the police and some of its challenges, even as he expressed confidence that police would move to the next level for the benefit of all Nigerians.

According to him, the idea behind the meeting is to ensure that the security of lives and property in the country was guaranteed.
