Minister restates commitment to staff welfare

The Minister of Environment, Mrs. Laurentia Mallam and her newly appointed Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Rabi Shuaibu Jimeta, have collectively affirmed their commitment to staff welfare as part of measures to boost staff moral and enhance productivity.
The duo made the commitment at the handing over ceremony, where Mrs. Rabi Shuaibu Jimeta, took-over from the out-going Permanent Secretary, Mr. Taiye Haruna.
Mrs. Mallam said that her priority was to create a good working environment by ensuring good staff welfare. She noted that adequate incentive to staff will spur them toward optimal performance which is in line with the present administration’s transformation agenda.

The minister stated that no desired achievement will be accomplished without putting staff welfare into consideration. According to her, “Whatever is due to staff should be given to them, but whenever we cannot meet their demands, explanations should be advanced immediately.”
She commended the outgoing permanent secretary for his dedication and commitment to duty during his tenure in the Ministry and wished him success in his new posting and all his endeavours.

In the same vein, she welcomed the new permanent secretary, Mrs. Rabi Shuaibu Jimeta and intimated her on the commitment, to work by the staff of the ministry and assured her of unflinching support from the staff.
Earlier in his speech, the out- going permanent secretary, Mr. Taiye Haruna commended the staff for the support they gave him during his 20months stay in the ministry and appealed to them to extend such kindness to the new permanent secretary.
In her remarks, the new permanent secretary assured Mr. Haruna and the staff that she will encourage welfare and hard work. She solicited for cooperation from the entire workforce to achieve the objective of the ministry.
