Minister tasks civil servants on govt policies

Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Prof. Claudius Omoleye Daramola, has called on civil servants to cooperate with the federal government to achieve its goals.
Daramola made the call yesterday in Abuja when the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs.
Winifred Oyo-Ita, led a team of permanent secretaries to the minister’s office.
A statement issued by the Director of Press, Marshall Gundu, indicated that the minister said the call became necessary to help facilitate policies that will benefit Nigerians.
He thanked the Head of Service for posting the new permanent secretary, Aminu Aliyu Bisalla, to the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, describing him as “experienced and stable-minded.” According to him, “the coming of the permanent secretary has stabilised the ministry despite its daunting challenges.” Earlier, Oyo-Ita said the team’s visit to the ministry as “very encouraging, strong and effective.” She added that the team was able to interact with all stakeholders in the ministry to get first-hand information on the progress the ministry “has recorded over the years and the challenges it is facing in a bid to find ways of overcoming it.” Oyo-Ita further said the “essence of the peer review mechanism is to enable permanent secretaries interact with the head of the civil service on their mandates, levels of budget implementation, responses to the executive orders and the efforts they are making to achieve the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) of federal government.” In his remarks, the new permanent secretary disclosed that the ministry had recorded “a lot in delivering on its mandate as well as building synergy among various stakeholders in addressing the development challenges of the Niger Delta region
