Ministerial post: APC youth faults petition against ex-Bauchi governor

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi state under the auspices of ‘APC Youth Parliament’ have condemned the petition filed by the Bauchi State Coalition against Financial Crimes and Injustice (BACAFCI) and its chairman Alhaji Bibi Dogo to the federal government and the APC National headquarters against the nomination of the immediate past governor of the state Mohammed Abubakar as President Muhammadu Buhari’s minister in the second term.

Our correspondent reports that there are speculations going round that APC governors who lost re-election including Abubakar will be appointed ministers by the president.

The parliament in a statement issued by its Secretary Malam Nasiru Cigari claimed that all the allegations levelled against the former governor in that petition were false and mischievous aimed at stopping him from occupying the exalted position.

“As you are aware, the name “Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar” is being mentioned for obvious political reasons as a culprit over the unfortunate happenings in Bauchi State, especially recently when the story of his nomination into Buhari’s cabinet took ground.

“I must say that he has been utterly embarrassed by some of the negative comments, insinuations and unfounded accusations, which were clearly misdirected, narrow and mischievous.

“It is rather curious that the campaign against the APC leader is becoming more stringent at the time the Presidency entreats him into mainstream national politics,” he lamented.

Cigari therefore called on President Muhammadu Buhari to ignore ‘the distractors’ and appoint Abubakar as the Minster from Bauchi State in order to compensate the ‘sleepless nights and restless days’ the former governor endured for the success of APC in the last elections.
