Minority leadership: Probe panel meets Elumelu, Ikpeazu, others

The investigative panel set up the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT) Thursday met with the party members that flaunted its choice of minority leadership positions in the House of Representatives.

The five-man committee headed by former President of the Senate, Iorchia Ayu reportedly met with Hon Ndudi Elumelu, who was named the minority leader by the house Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila in disregard to the PDP’s nominee- Hon Kingsley Chinda (PDP Rivers).

Aside from Elumelu, others the investigative met with were Wole Oke, Lyndia Ikpeazu, Anayo Edwin, Gideon Gwadi, Toby Okechukwu and Adekoya Abdul-Majid.

The six were last week suspended for one month for availing themselves to the ruling party to use to subvert the party interests and position on the minority leadership tussle.

Before the meeting was held with the suspended six members of the House of Representatives, in a closed-door session, Senator Ayu assured them that the party was not going to witch-hunt anybody by taking a decision that could break the ranks of the party members in the house.

According to him, the elders of the party were already also holding series of meetings on the way forward, noting that it was purely a family affair that must not be allowed to be used by the ruling to fractionalised the party.

The other members of the panel are former Presidents of the Senate, David Mark, Adolphus Wabara, former Deputy Senate President, Ibrahim Mantu and Hon Austin Okpara.
